Nascar memories
3:47 p.m. - 2005-01-29

Im watching the CMT 40 Greatest Nascar Moments and am having a BLAST! Some of these moments bring back unbelievable memories!

And people wonder why I dont 100% buy into the young gun hype. All you have to know to understand why I dont is the classic 2 vs. 3! Rusty vs. Dale Sr. Hearing Ned Jarrett cry from joy when Dale Jarrett won the 1993 Daytona 500. When Terry Labonte got wrecked by Dale Earnhardt and crossed the finish line in a wrecked car. It was forever known as "Winning Ugly". Who can forget North Wilkesboro? Do you remember where you were when you heard Ernie Irvan was in a life threatening practice wreck in Michigan on that August afternoon? Do you remember Jeff Gordon winning the inaugural Brickyard 400? And I bet you dont know that Rick Mast won the pole for that race. Were you like me, sitting in your aunt and uncle's new house watching the 1994 Daytona 500 when a true southern boy, Sterling Marlin won his first ever race, only to win the same race the next year? Do you remember when road course races were dominated by a #6 car, sponsored by Valvoline? I wonder if you remember Harry Gant's farewell tour, and the farewell tour of Darrell Waltrip? Do you remember Nascar on ESPN? Do you remember the 1995 Brickyard 400 being rained out for hours and ABC dropped coverage of it, only to resort to listening to it on the radio while swimming in your pool on a hot August afternoon, only to be mad cause Dale Earnhardt won?

Do you remember?

Remember when...
